Gently Falling

I just love this card designed by Pat Conry that I received in a swap (on the left). I decided it would make a great workshop project. I added some Spice Cake Designer Series Paper and left off the sentiment. My version is on the right. Love the textured look added to the leaves with the Lattice Square Impressions Embossing folder. Inside there's more leaves! Thanks for the great idea, Pat!

More Gently Falling leaves and Spice Cake Designer Series Paper...this time with a Pool Party card base. This was my first version of this card. Later I decided to add a button and some linen thread. I used the 1" square punch to punch out the stamped leaves.

November Stamp Club Projects

My Stamp Club is taking a break in December but I wanted to share some of the past projects with you. Here is one of our November projects.  I love the shimmer of the Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder which covers the entire stamped portion of the front of this card. The picture just doesn't do it justice! I think this is one of my all time favorite stamp club projects.

We used the "Coffee Filter" technique on the front then stamped the Christmas Collage background stamp from the Holiday Mini catalog over top. That whole piece was then covered with VersaMark ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. That is layered on Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler with Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon for the bow. Inside we stamped images from the Bells & Boughs set  (also from the Holiday Mini).

Our other November project involved the "Shaving Cream" technique. (It was a rather messy day!) We did the shaving cream and ink refill technique for the background in Wild Wasabi and Real Red. We used the ornament from the Contempo Christmas set, punched it out with the ornament punch and dressed it up with the 1/8" Real Red ribbon and rhinestones. The inside is stamped with the other three images from the Contempo Christmas set.

February Stamp Club Projects

Our February Stamp was delayed due to snow but we finally made it and put together two lovely cards. The first using the emerging color technique. We used the Vintage Vogue set from the Occasions Mini Catalog as the emerging stamp set and embossed over top of it with the Medallion stamp. We brayered over top of that with Elegant Eggplant ink.

For our second project we brayered over Bride Designer Specialty paper (pg. 158 in the Idea Book & Catalog) with Melon Mambo ink to create a stunning design that really pops with the black and white on the card. The flower is made from tissue paper punched out with the new Extra Large Fancy Flower punch. The side piece is embossed with the new Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder and the Big Shot! Notice the Perfect Polka Dots embossed on the envelope flap as well.

This cute little basket is super easy to make. This is what the Stamp Club members received as their little "goodie" this month. It is just a 6x6 piece of designer paper scored at 2 inches from each side and diagonally on each corner. Fold the corners in and punch a hole near the crease. This one is held together with a binder clip but you can thread ribbon through the holes too.

Another Stamp Club Project - Heart Treat Cups

This is the other project I had for my Stamp Club this month. It uses the new Heart Treat Cups and the coordinating Sweetheart stamp set. Quantities of the Heart Treat Cup are limited so if you're looking for a cute Valentine project you will need to order these right away. This is a standard size card. The base is 4 1/4"x 11" scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2". The ribbon holds the card open.

Pull the tab out to expose the candy through the hole in the back of the card. That way you don't have to tear the card apart to get to the candy. Hmmm...chocolate...handmade card...it's a tough decision - thus the hole in the back gives you the best of both!

Stamp Club Project

Here is one of the projects we’ll be doing at my January Stamp Club. I love the look of this tri-fold card and it can be so full of embellishments and little surprises.

November Stamp Club Projects

My Stamp Club met yesterday. We had such a great time making these two Christmas cards! The ladies loved the little snowman treat boxes that I made for each of them.

On this card we cut out the Top Note die with the Big Shot! then used the Scenic Season stamp set on the front which we stamped in White Craft Ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. We masked the words and just stamped the trees. Then we just inked the words and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig we positioned the words in closer to the trees. Gotta love that Stamp-a-ma-jig! Before attaching the Top Note we stamped the little snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set in VersaMark in each corner and embossed with Iridescent Ice just to add a little sparkle. The bow is just a knot of Organza Ribbon attached with a glue dot. The card corners were rounded with the corner rounder punch.

Inside the card we stamped the sentiment from Seneic Season in Night of Navy. The snowflake is the Simple Snowflake stamp from page 208 in the catalog stamped in VersaMark, embossed with Iridescent Ice and punched out with the Jumbo Snowflake punch. It is attached with SNAIL. TIP: lay your delicate item to be SNAILed on the glossy side of the backing paper from your stamp lables, hold down with one hand and add your SNAIL. The SNAIL won't stick to the glossy paper and make a mess of your stamping area!

         

                                               

The second card we did involved lots of cool techniques! First we used the Big Shot! and the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder to make the Whisper White layer of the front of the card. I used the Oval Scallop Frame die to make an oval template to use with the embossing folder to create the smooth area that we stamped in. Since the oval was just the right size it was perfect to put the frame around. Dasher was inked with VersaMark then Soft Suede, stamped, then embossed with Iridescent Ice. You can't really see the sparkle in this picture. The bow is Kraft Taffeta Ribbon attached with a glue dot.

                                       

We stamped the inside of the card with a sentiment from the All Holidays stamp set in Soft Suede. Across the bottom we placed a strip of Sticky Strip and covered it with gold embossing powder. Don't overheat the embossing powder on the Sticky Strip. You only want to melt the embossing powder...not the Sticky Strip. The Sticky Strip adds a nice clean line!

                            

Here's the little snowman treatbox. It's he cute! I filled him with a hot cocoa packet and candy cane. He was inspired by an idea shared by BJ Peters on the Stampin' Up! demonstrators website. This little guy is made with the Top Note die, corner rounder, 1 1/4" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/4" circle punch and Boho Blossoms punch. The nose is cut free hand. The box that he is attached to is 3" wide, 1" deep and about 4 1/2" tall.

Sale-a-bration! sample

I made this card for a demonstrator swap that I took part in. I cased the card on page 4 of the Sale-a-bration! brochure. I love the SAB items they have this year! I used the Polka Dot Punches stamp set, Delicate Dots DSP and the 5/8" So Saffron grosgrain ribbon - all Sale-a-bration! items. I also used Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Barely Banana card stock, Certainly Celery Classic ink, buttons from Fresh Favorites II, word window, 1-1/4" circle punch, 5-petal punch and the scallop circle punches. (Sorry, I forgot which set I used the "thank you" from.)

Stamp Club Projects

The Fall/Winter 2008 round of Stamp Clubs has begun. The Saturday group met and had a great time making the projects, getting to know each other and looking at all the new Stampin' Up! stuff. Thanks, Julia for bringing the cookies. Yum! The Thursday group will meet next week. Both groups are full so if you're thinking of joining a Stamp Club let me know. The next round will be groups of 6 that will meet for 6 months and will begin in February 2009 with the next Stampin' Up!Spring/Summer '09 Idea Book & Catalog.

The color on the flowers is created with a coloring technique using ink pads and daubers that I saw at the Stampin' Up! convention.

Here is a close up of the new Filgree Brad and the scallop edge made with the new scallop edge punch. I love the new scallop edge punch and these new brads are wonderful!

The second card is made with the bleaching technique to create the white images in the background. I got the idea for this card from the card on the bottom of page 91 in the Stampin' Up! Fall/Winter 08 Idea Book & Catalog.

Stamp Club Cards

Today was the last Stamp Club meeting for this session. Hostess Shelley brought a cute side-fold card for us to make as an added bonus. It featured a cool way to hold the ribbon on to tie the card shut. Very cute! Thanks, Shelley! Sorry, I don't have a picture of it. I guess there are some benefits to Stamp Club!

Film Award

My son won two awards at the Malone College Open Frame Film Festival this spring. I made this card to congratulate him. He really liked it and it made him laugh. (After all he is a pirate.)

To make the film strip - punch along the edge of the cardstock with the spiral punch. FLIP THE CARDSTOCK OVER and punch along the other side. Flipping the cardstock over will allow the holes to line up evenly across from each other.

Here's the inside of the card. I made him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Fresh Cuts

The Fresh Cut stamp set and Fresh Cut Notes that are on special this month are very popular. Everyone wants them! This is a thank you note that I did for last month's Stamp Club orders.

Graduation Cards

With so many of our friend's kids graduating this year, I decided to come up with one graduation card that I could make in a variety of school colors. These hold a gift card, check or money on the inside. The original design was a birthday card that my friend Clair made for a shoe box swap at last year's Stampin' Up! convention. Thanks Clair!

I used the Classic Backgrounds, Sincere Salutations and Phrases for a Friend (Mini Catalog) for these cards. I also used the large and small star punches, designer series papers, brads, ribbon and slot punch.

Here's the inside of the card. I used the slot punch to hold the gift card in place. (No that's not a real credit card! - I wish!)
