Stamp Club Projects

The Fall/Winter 2008 round of Stamp Clubs has begun. The Saturday group met and had a great time making the projects, getting to know each other and looking at all the new Stampin' Up! stuff. Thanks, Julia for bringing the cookies. Yum! The Thursday group will meet next week. Both groups are full so if you're thinking of joining a Stamp Club let me know. The next round will be groups of 6 that will meet for 6 months and will begin in February 2009 with the next Stampin' Up!Spring/Summer '09 Idea Book & Catalog.

Here are the two projects for the first meeting.

Stamps: Upsy Daisy (15% off through Sept 30th)

Ink: Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette

Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Real Red, Whisper White

Other: Bella Rose DSP, Scallop edge punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Piercer and mat from Tool Kit, Filgree Brad, daubers.

The color on the flowers is created with a coloring technique using ink pads and daubers that I saw at the Stampin' Up! convention.

Here is a close up of the new Filgree Brad and the scallop edge made with the new scallop edge punch. I love the new scallop edge punch and these new brads are wonderful!

The second card is made with the bleaching technique to create the white images in the background. I got the idea for this card from the card on the bottom of page 91 in the Stampin' Up! Fall/Winter 08 Idea Book & Catalog.

Stamps: Eastern Blooms (15% off through Sept. 30th), Canvas
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Old Olive
Other: Bella Rose DSP, Pink Gingham ribbon, Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware, Scallop Edge punch, Trio Flower punch, mini glue dots, bleach.

Blessings,
Barb

Things are finally setting down - at least for the time being - so it's back to stamping! Here is one of the swaps I took to the Stampin' Up! Convention. I came back with lots of wonderful new samples for my display boards! You can access the recipe for this card on my Stampin' Up! website by clicking here.

Enjoy,

Barb

Sew Cute!

These little sewing kits are so cute! I made these a long time ago for a ladies brunch. I updated the design on the cover and used the new Pink Pirouette In-Color cardstock (available beginning Aug. 11th) for the folder. I'm making a bunch of these as one of my 3-D swaps for the Stampin' Up! convention.

Sneak Peek - Flower Power

Here's a sneak peek at the new Stampin' Up! Simply Sent card making kit - Flower Power. It will be available in the new catalog beginning Aug. 11, 2008. I made the 9 cards that the set is designed to make. I did tweak one design slightly so I wouldn't use so much of the designer paper. I had enough textured cardstock and designer paper left over to make 3 more cards and I still have half of a sheet of designer paper left. I got a little paper-snip happy and cut out around the self-adhesive die-cuts to add some embellishments to the extra cards. There is also a small stamp set - Wow Flowers - 4 stamps - that coordinate with this Simply Sent Card Kit. The stamp set is sold separately. I love the color combination of Perfect Plum, Rose Red, More Mustard and Old Olive. I have never thought of putting those colors together. I can see this being a class this fall.

Father's Day Card

Here it is...the Father's Day card my husband stamped for his father. Now when my husband needs a card for something he knows he can make "the horse card". I think it turned out pretty good for a first card.

What's bugging you?

I saw my first lightening bug of the season last night. That reminded me that my friend, Barb S. had asked for a picture of some bugs that I had made. So, here are some bugs you can make and enjoy this summer. They are made with chocolate wrapped with an address label which was stripped with a marker. The wings are hearts that were stamped then cut out. (The set I used for these bugs is retired but a heart stamp from any of these sets would work too: Forever in My Heart, Independence Day, Boatloads of Love, Simply Said, Always. The petals from Pick a Petal will also work just fine.) The antenna are thin wire wrapped around with the ends curled. I'm sure you can bee creative and come up with your own bugs!

Happy Father's Day

I actually got my husband to stamp a card for his dad for Father's Day. Of couse all the cardstock was cut and all he had to do was stamp and assemble. But, none the less he did stamp it himself. He tells me I've created a monster because now he's going to want to make more cards himself...as long as all he has to do is stamp and tape. I'll post a picture of it later. But for now...in honor of all the men in our lives...I am posting a link to this "man card" video. This is the husband of Stampin' Up! demonstrator Linda Heller. He is making a card on his own - with his own tools - in his own space...enjoy!

Stamp Club Cards

Today was the last Stamp Club meeting for this session. Hostess Shelley brought a cute side-fold card for us to make as an added bonus. It featured a cool way to hold the ribbon on to tie the card shut. Very cute! Thanks, Shelley! Sorry, I don't have a picture of it. I guess there are some benefits to Stamp Club!

We had two card projects today. The card on the left is a criss-cross card featuring the One of a Kind stamp set. The instructions and a wonderful tutorial can be found on Splitcoaststampers.

Supplies:

Stamps: One of a Kind

Ink: Classic- Tempting Turquoise

Cardstock: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Groovy Guava, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise Textured

Other: Bali Breeze Designer Series paper, Groovy Guava double-stitched ribbon, Crop-a-dile, Jumbo eyelets, Stampin' Dimensionals, 3/4" circle punch, Corner rounder, Boho Blossoms punch, Round Tab punch, Tool Kit, Vintage brads, Rich Regal Brads, sticky strip, paper cutter

The card on the right uses the emboss resist technique, we tore the edge to add some texture then masked the torn edge to show the vanilla paper along the edge. This card features the Close As a Memory stamp set. I can't remember where I found this card but I did copy it from somewhere.

Stamps: Close As a Memory, Watercolor Vine jumbo wheel

Ink: Classic- Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, VersaMark

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla

Other: Stampin' Write Markers- Regal Rose, So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, jumbo wheel handle, embossing buddy, Clear embossing powder, Powder Pals, Heat tool, Stampin' sponges, Hodgepodge hardware, Tool kit

Film Award

My son won two awards at the Malone College Open Frame Film Festival this spring. I made this card to congratulate him. He really liked it and it made him laugh. (After all he is a pirate.)

Stamp sets: Ahoy Mate, Phrases For a Friend, Weathered, Rough Edges Mini Alphabet
Cardstock: Yoyo Yellow, Basic Black, Whisper White, Brushed Gold, Brushed Silver
Classic Ink: Basic Black, Yoyo Yellow

Accessories: 1 3/8" square punch, Spiral punch, Large star punch, Stampin' Write Markers- Basic Black, Real Red, Going Gray(retired), Yoyo Yellow, Blush Blossom

To make the film strip - punch along the edge of the cardstock with the spiral punch. FLIP THE CARDSTOCK OVER and punch along the other side. Flipping the cardstock over will allow the holes to line up evenly across from each other.

Here's the inside of the card. I made him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Fresh Cuts

The Fresh Cut stamp set and Fresh Cut Notes that are on special this month are very popular. Everyone wants them! This is a thank you note that I did for last month's Stamp Club orders.

Graduation Cards

With so many of our friend's kids graduating this year, I decided to come up with one graduation card that I could make in a variety of school colors. These hold a gift card, check or money on the inside. The original design was a birthday card that my friend Clair made for a shoe box swap at last year's Stampin' Up! convention. Thanks Clair!

I used the Classic Backgrounds, Sincere Salutations and Phrases for a Friend (Mini Catalog) for these cards. I also used the large and small star punches, designer series papers, brads, ribbon and slot punch.

Here's the inside of the card. I used the slot punch to hold the gift card in place. (No that's not a real credit card! - I wish!)
